Amy Zhang

Amy completed her Juris Doctor in 2022 and has been admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Lawyer in 2023.

Before making a full transition into a legal career, Amy has been practising migration law since 2015 as a registered migration agent. Throughout this period, she successfully represented numerous clients in various application processes, including visa applications, skills assessments, state nominations, family and business sponsorships and nominations. She also managed appeals at various venues, with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal being the primary one for clients who received unfavourable outcomes in their applications.

While Australian migration law remains Amy’s primary focus, her diverse background in both science and law, combined her keen attitude to learn would continue to drive her motivation to expand her expertise into other legal areas in the future.

She also has a strong interest in family law and commercial law, demonstrating her commitment to providing accessible and comprehensive legal support. Jocelyn graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Queensland University of Technology in 2024. Before embarking on her professional legal career, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice in 2016 and became a registered migration agent in early 2017. Since then, she has built extensive experience in Australian migration law, successfully assisting clients with both straightforward and highly complex matters.
Her practice encompasses partner and other family visas, the Global Talent Independent (GTI) program, employer-sponsored visas, and merits review before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. She is recognised for her ability to navigate complex legislation, apply case law effectively, and design tailored strategies that maximise client outcomes.

She then obtained a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Melbourne in 2022 and completed her admission in 2023. During her time at University, Mi undertook several internships and volunteer positions. She wants to assist more people in navigating the legal system to ensure they feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect. Victor Wang

Victor graduated from Monash University Faculty of Law and has been practising in Victoria since 2013. With over twelve years of experience in Australian criminal law, he has developed a strong legal foundation and extensive courtroom advocacy skills. His practice has long focused on criminal defence, where he is known for his strategic insight, meticulous case preparation, and client-centred approach.

Victor possesses a deep understanding of the procedural and practical aspects of the Victorian court system. Lawyer - Commercial Law

About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Commercial Law Lawyer with litigation experience to join our team. You will manage a diverse Commercial law caseload, represent clients in complex legal matters, mentoring junior and graduate lawyers and contribute to the continued success and growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Manage a broad caseload of Commercial law matters including mediation and negotiations.

•    Provide strategic legal advice and risk management support to clients.

•    Draft legal documentation including agreement and deeds, brief, affidavits, and court submissions.

•    Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation and settlement negotiations.

•    Mentor junior lawyers and foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture.

•    Support the firm’s business development initiatives and help build client relationships.

What You’ll Need:

•    Minimum 3 years of post-admission experience in Commercial law.

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven courtroom confidence.

•    Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical problem-solving abilities.

•    A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work well both independently and in a team.

Placement opportunity

Legal assistant

Our placement position provides law students and graduates with the opportunity to apply the theory and skills they learned in a professional workplace. The placement spans either full-time for 4 months or part-time for 6 months, providing flexibility to plan and schedule your Practical Legal Training (PLT). Good performers may be given an offer

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in scheduling and arranging client meetings.

  • Take meeting notes and organize documents.

  • Provide necessary translation of documents between Chinese and English.

  • Conduct legal research and case analysis under the guidance of lawyers.

  • Support lawyers in mediation, court hearings, and document handling.

  • Assist in the drafting of legal articles.

  • Assist in receiving visiting clients and answering calls when required.
